Prototype Model Makers - posted 12-09-08

We are seeking experienced and motivated Model Makers with a minimum of 3 years experience to join our team.  Applying individuals need to possess design, artistic, and model making skills.

The ideal candidate should have proven experience in the following areas:

• Ultra-fine model detail
• Final finishing
• Painting and custom color mixing of paints
• Polishing and assembly of a variety of materials
• (SLA, Urethanes, ABS, Aluminum, Acrylic, Modeling Board, etc.)
• Ability to use a variety of shop tools including but not limited to:
• Woodworking tools, Table Saw, Band Saw, Lathe, Vacuum Forming
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer background and previous experience working with engineering files/databases a plus

Candidates will be responsible for creating high quality prototypes in a timely fashion from design drawings, engineering data, and rapid prototype parts.  Applicants must be able to effectively communicate issues or concerns as well as suggest improvements to project leaders.  Being able to work independently as well as part of a team is a must.

Prototype Model Maker (RTV Molding/Urethane Casting Emphasis) - posted 12-09-08

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Model Maker interested in RTV molding and urethane casting.  Applicants need to possess design, artistic, and model making skills.  The primary role of this position will be to construct RTV tooling and vacuum cast urethane parts.  This individual will also have the opportunity to work on traditional model making tasks when the need arises.

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and characteristics:

• Experience in or desire to learn the vacuum casting process
• Able to manage the scheduling and ordering of all casting materials
• Able to problem solve and investigate new options for improving the casting process
• Someone who takes pride in their work and desires to produce the best parts possible every time
• Detail oriented

Candidates should also possess the following:

• 1+ years experience in traditional model making (Finish Sanding, Painting, using Wood Shop Tools, etc.)
• 1+ years experience in urethane casting
• Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Integrity and a drive to succeed

Candidates will be responsible for managing and completing multiple casting projects on time and within budget guidelines while meeting Aerosport quality standards.  Applicants must be able to effectively communicate issues or concerns as well as suggest improvements to project leaders.  Being able to work independently as well as part of a team is a must
